Heinrich a Chicken

by Ragnar Danneskjöld on September 3, 2010

in National Politics

Afraid that he will either be forced to defend his voting record, or that he will reprise Patsy’s Madrid’s deer-in-the-headlights act, incumbent congressman Martin Heinrich has refused to debate his Republican opponent Jon Barela.

Perhaps Mr. Heinrich has spent too much time flying first class to understand that voters actually expect their representative in Congress to answer questions about their views and their votes.  If Mr. Heinrich doesn’t have the stomach to take on the media or his opponent, his career in Congress will be brief.

Politicking 101

by Dagny Taggart September 2, 2010 4:42 PM

Share Arizona Governor Jan Brewer appears poised to walk through her general campaign, thanks to her support for AZ SB 1070 and a lackluster challenge from the Democrats. That doesn’t justify this excruciatingly painful 43-second video of her opening remarks in a gubernatorial debate last night. Candidates take a lesson here: your opening statement is [...]

The Commerce Clause

by Francisco d'Anconia August 26, 2010 5:07 PM

One Small Voice: Missing Tricky Dick

by Ellsworth Toohey August 21, 2010 9:55 AM

Share I hate this new crop of Republican politicians.  Take Jon Barela, for example.  Mr. Barela has managed to package himself as a reasonable fellow, a nice guy, a family man who reeks of wholesome, American values.  Last week, his campaign posted a nauseating video on YouTube, showing the candidate with his son, tossing a football into a basketball [...]

More Bad Manners

by Ragnar Danneskjöld August 17, 2010 3:11 PM

Share The lack of class demonstrated recently by Governor Richardson appears to be spreading:   By and large, taxpayers have a tremendous amount of respect for police officers and firefighters, men and women who risk their lives on a daily basis to protect and defend public safety.  The four firefighters Mayor Berry intended to honor last [...]
